7 Stacker Module (Optional)
7.5

Safety Features

The stacker is equipped with various sensors and an encoder to detect obstacles
during operation and trigger a safety stop if necessary.
The encoder can detect if the stacker movement is interrupted. If an obstacle is
l
detected during operation, all stacker movements are stopped and the power
supply of the axes is switched off.
The gripper is equipped with a sensor to detect if a plate is loaded or not. It also
l
has a touch sensor to detect the vertical collision with the plate stack.
During a safety stop, the device can only continue to operate after confirmation by
the user via the software. This is to prevent possible injuries or damage to the
instrument or samples.
Stacker Safety Stop Recovery
In a situation where the stacker faces a critical motion error or the movement of the
gripper arm is disturbed so that the software cannot determine the status, the
following steps must be performed to restore the safe operating condition.
1. Unplug the power cord from the stacker module. Make sure that the stacker is
powered off.
2. Lift the gripper arm so that the gripper is above the magazines.
3. Push the gripper arm all the way to the right to its Home position until it
engages. Make sure that the metal pin (marked red in the image below)
snapped into the notch at the Home position. This prevents the arm from
dropping while the stacker is powerless.

4. Reconnect the power supply of the stacker module.

Note
If there is a plate stuck in the gripper during a critical failure, do not attempt
to remove the plate. Doing so might damage the gripper.
