Stacker Module (Optional)

7.1

Overview

The stacker module is an optional extension for the VICTOR Nivo multimode plate
reader. It enables semi-automated microplate handling. The stacker module has to
be installed by PerkinElmer Service.

2. Park position IN
3. Park position OUT
4. VICTOR Nivo multimode reader
5. Gripper
The stacker does not have a power switch. Switching on/off the reader will also
power on and off the stacker.
The stacker has two magazines (see chapter 7.8 "Magazines", page 53). Each
magazine can hold up to 20 plates. The left magazine is intended to be filled with
sample plates (IN magazine) and the right magazine should be left empty for the
measured plates (OUT magazine). The gripper arm transfers the plates to and from
the reader.
The two park positions in front of the reader are used to center the plate in the gripper
(passive mechanical structure) before loading the plate into the reader. They are
also used to store the lid of a plate during measurement, and to temporarily store
plates before and after a measurement to minimize travel distances and plate
handling time between two measurements.
The stacker operation is controlled via the reader software. Basic functions are
available via the buttons at the control panel (see section 7.7 "Control Panel", page
51). The control panel also indicates the status of the stacker and the magazines.
