Chapter 5 – Cleaning Tape Drives
Before You Begin
Make sure that you have met both of the following conditions:
You have a TeraPack magazine containing the cleaning cartridge ready to import
into the library.
An empty chamber is available in the partition containing the drive to be cleaned.
Note:
If you need to empty a chamber, follow the steps in Export a
Magazine with an Empty Slot on page 42 to export a magazine
from the partition. After the cleaning procedure is completed, you
can exchange the magazine containing the cleaning cartridge for
the one that you exported.
Start the Import Process
Use the following steps to prepare for importing the magazine containing the cleaning
cartridge. See "Importing, Exporting, and Moving Media" in the Spectra T200 &T380
Library User Guide for detailed instructions. The numbers in Figure 5-4 correspond to
steps in the procedure.

1. From the toolbar menu, select General > Import/Export. The Import/Export
TeraPack Cases screen displays (Figure 5-4).
2. Select the desired Partition, then select Go.
3. Select Import for the storage pool or the entry/exit pool.
4. When the TAP door opens, proceed to Import the Cleaning Cartridge on page 45.
