Chapter 1 – Identifying Components and Preparing for Maintenance
Resetting the Library or LCM
Some types of replacement procedures require you to reset the library or LCM before
the changes take affect.
Resetting the Library
Note:
Do not reset the library unless SpectraGuard Support specifically
instructs you to do so. Trace data generated by the library may be
lost when you reset the library or a component, making
diagnosing problems difficult.
Use the following steps to reset the library.
1. Power off the library (see Power Off the Library on page 21).
2. Wait at least 10 seconds.
3. Power on the library (see Power On the Library on page 21). When the library
completes its power-on sequence, it is ready to resume operation.
Resetting the LCM
Some troubleshooting procedures require you to reset the LCM. You also may need to
reset the LCM if it stops responding because of an incompatible USB storage device.
Note:
Resetting the LCM resets the motion control for the transporter.
Any move requests to the transporter will fail until the LCM
completes its initialization.
Use the following steps to reset the LCM.
1. Insert the tip of a toothpick or other similar non-conductive object into the hole on
the back of the LCM (Figure 1-7).

2. Wait for the LCM to complete its initialization.
