Chapter 6 – Replacing a QIP or Bus Expansion Module
Remove the Malfunctioning Bus Expansion Module
Use the following steps to remove and replace a bus expansion module.
1. Go to the rear of the library and remove the protective cover as described in
Remove the Cover on page 19.
2. Locate the malfunctioning bus expansion module (see Identifying a Malfunctioning
Bus Expansion Module on page 55).
3. Disconnect any cables and SCSI terminators from the connectors on the module.
Note:
Label the cables and terminators to indicate where each was
connected. You will connect the cables and terminators to the
same locations on the new bus expansion module.
4. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two captive screws on the right side of
the bus expansion module (Figure 6-8).

5. Pull firmly outward on the handle to remove the module from the library.
6. Set the malfunctioning module aside for return to Spectra Logic.
