3.17 Connecting Batteries

Connecting the batteries provides electrical power to the windrower.
1. Move latch (A) towards the right cab-forward side of the
windrower.
2. Grasp louver (B) and lift the hood to open it.
3. Lift up on the cab-end of cover (A) to disengage it from
retaining tab (B), and swing the cover away from the frame.
4. If you are installing a new battery, remove the plastic caps
from the battery posts.
IMPORTANT:
Batteries are negative grounded. Always connect the
starter cable to the positive (+) terminal of the battery and
the battery ground cable to the negative (–) terminal of the
battery. Reversed polarity in the battery or alternator may
result in permanent damage to the electrical system.
NOTE:
Before connecting the electrical harness to the batteries,
ensure that the positive terminal is positioned on the right
side of the battery when the battery is installed on the
battery support.
5. Attach the red positive (+) cable terminals to positive
posts (B) on the batteries and tighten their clamps.
Reposition the plastic covers onto the clamps.
6. Attach the black negative (–) cable terminals to negative
posts (A) on the batteries and tighten their clamps.
Reposition the plastic covers onto the clamps.
