Part I
Notice
When sloping down the long or sharp
downhill, decrease the speed first, then en-
gage the gear to "2" range (to "L" when it
is sharp downhill). Depress the brake pedal
to ensure safe drive at even speed. Try to
avoid consecutive use of brake pedal, oth-
erwise the brake is liable to failure.
Don't keep the select lever in "2"
range or "L" range during the drive, oth-
erwise the transmission could be damaged
due to being overheated. Try to keep it in
"D" range if possible.
Be careful to shift to low speed gear
on smooth road, sudden shift could result
in self-rotation or slip.
Keep the select lever in "D" range
when driving on snowy or muddy road.
If the driving wheel slips, you can set the
control lever to "2" range or "L" range.
(f) Backing
1. Stop the vehicle completely.
2. While depressing the brake pedal and
holding it, shift the select lever to "R"
range.
Notice
Required strongly
When the vehicle is in motion, do not
shift to reverse range, and the vehicle must
be stopped in steadiness.
During the drive, under no circum-
stances should the select lever be set to "P"
range, otherwise it could result in serious
mechanical damage or make the vehicle
out of control.
(g) Park
1. Depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle
completely. Shift the lever to "P" range.
2. Fully pull up the park brake lever.
(h) Temporary Park
1. If you want to park the car only for a short
while, you can keep the control lever in "D"
range, and stop the car with service brake
so that the car can start again once the
brake pedal is released.
2. If the park time is pretty long, you can
shift the control lever to "N" range, and
apply the park brake and depress the brake
pedal to avoid overheated automatic trans-
mission hydraulic oil.
