Part II
4. Three-Way Catalytic Con-
verter
Dual three-way catalytic converter
Three-way catalytic converter is an exhaust
pollution controlling device installed in the
exhaust system. It is designed to reduce the
exhaust pollution.
This vehicle is installed with dual three-way
catalytic converters and oxygen sensor to de-
crease harmful gas such as CH, CO, and NOx
in exhaust. Leaded-gasoline is forbidden, or
catalytic converter will be intoxicated and stop
functioning.
Oxygen sensor sends signals to ECU to ensure
that the fuel/air mixture in the best ratio is pro-
vided to the engine.
If you use fuels failing to meet the require-
ments in local standard DB11/238-2004 of
Beijing city, you will not be able to guaran-
tee the exhaust performance required by the
GB18352.3-2005 (light-weight automobile
pollutant emission limit and measuring meth-
ods (III, IV) ).
Warning
Keep exhaust pipe away from people
and flammable material. Exhaust is
very hot.
Do not race the engine or park the
vehicle in places full of flammable ma-
terial such as grass, leaves, paper, or
cloth.
Notice
If a large amount of unburned gas
flows into catalytic converter, the catalytic
converter may be overheated and catch
fire. To prevent this or other dangers,
please follow the precautions below.
Use unleaded gasoline only.
Do not drive vehicle when its fuel
level is extremely low. Engine stalls when
there is a short in fuel, and catalytic con-
verter will be overloaded.
Do not idle the engine for more than
20 minutes.
Do not overrun the engine.
Do not turn off ignition switch when
the vehicle is running.
