The automatic transmission has a shift lock
system which could reduce the mis-opera-
tion. There is no clutch pedal in the vehicle
equipped with automatic transmission.
(a) The shift indicator is shown in the instru-
ment panel
P:Park, start the engine and take off the igni-
tion key
R:Reverse
N:Neutral
D:Normal drive
2:comparatively strong engine brake
L;Strongest engine brake
(b) Normal Start
1. Apply the park brake or depress the brake
pedal, set the automatic transmission
control lever to "P" position, then turn the
ignition switch to start position.
2. When the engine stops during the drive,
and the control lever is in "D" range, the
starter will not start, you have to depress
the brake pedal to stop the car and then set
the control lever to "P" range, and then
you can start the engine. When starting
the engine, you should depress the brake
pedal and hold it or apply the park brake to
prevent the slide of car.
(c) Operations after the engine is started
1. After the engine is started, you must wait
for 3 seconds before engaging the gear.
2. When the car start moving, you should
depress the brake pedal and hold it, then
engage the gear, then release the park
brake and slowly depress the accelerator
pedal to speed up.
Notice
You must engage the gear before de-
pressing the accelerator pedal. It is not al-
lowed to depress the accelerator pedal in the
mean time of or before engaging the gear.
When shifting the gear, do not put
your foot on the accelerator pedal.
(d) Operation of "D" Range
1. While depressing the brake pedal, shift the
select lever to "D" range. When the select
lever is in "D" range, the automatic trans-
mission system will select most suitable
gear range based on the actual drive condi-
tions such as normal drive, grade climbing
and loaded drive.
(e) Operation of "2" range and "L" range
1. When the select lever is in "2" range or
"L"range, you can start the car as when the
select lever is in "D" range.
2. When the select lever is in "2" range, the
car will be started at the first gear, then
automatically shifted to the second gear.
3. When the select is in "L" range, the trans-
mission is engaged in the first gear.
