FRU Removal and Replacement

I/O Cooling Fan

This section describes how to remove and replace the I/O cooling fan, which is located in
the fan/speaker mounting bracket in the bottom of the front, right side of the workstation.
Removing the I/O Cooling Fan
To remove the I/O cooling fan, do the following:
1. Remove the top panel and the right side panel from the workstation.
2. Remove the PCI retainer clip by pressing down on the thumb tab and pulling the clip
forward to rotate it out of the chassis floor hole, as shown in Figure 4-53.

3. Remove all I/O cards from the I/O board and note their locations for reinstallation later.
See the removal procedures in "I/O Cards" on page 121 for details.
4. Remove the power supply by following the removal procedures in "Power Supply" on
page 128.
5. Disconnect the fan and speaker cables from the I/O board, as shown in Figure 4-54.
