Assigning Signals to Instruments

To display the actual measure data of a signal, the signal must be assigned to
an instrument. For more information, see "To add a measure file" on page 29.
You can perform the following actions:
"To assign signals to a new instrument" below

To quickly assign signals to an existing oscilloscope, the selection wheel can
be used. For more information, see "To assign signals using the selection
wheel" on page 90.

1. In the Variable Explorer, select the signal from which the indi-
vidual bits shall be extracted.
2. In the context menu, select Generate Bit Signals.
3. Select one or more bits.
The number of checkboxes depends on the data type of the selec-
ted variable.
4. Click Generate.
For each selected bit, a calculated Boolean signal is created. The
name of the calculated signals consists of the original signal
name and the bit number. The calculated signals are available in
the Variable Explorer and in the calculated signals editor. You can
use these signals in instruments and other calculated signals. For
more information, see "Assigning Signals to Instruments" below
and "Defining Calculated Signals" on page 58.
To remove extracted bit signals, see "To delete a calculated sig-
nal" on page 61.
1. In the Variable Explorer, press the C
signals that you want to use for analysis.
2. Drag and drop the selected signals to an empty area of the layer
or onto the layer tab in the currently active configuration. It is not
possible to drag signals to another configuration.
The context menu of the layer opens containing an item for each
available instrument type.
