SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL

NOTICE
I
Always stop the engine before disconnecting any electrical component.
Some electrical components may be damaged if terminals
or
connectors are connected
or
disconnected while the engine
is
running and current is present.
The ECM may be damaged if dropped. Also if the connector is disconnected when current is flowing, the excessive voltage may
damage the module. Always stop the engine before serviCing.
Use
a
sparle plug
of
the correct heat range. Using
8
sperl< plug with an incorrect heal range can damage the engine.
When servicing the ignition system. always follow the steps in the troubleshooting sequence (page 17-6).
The ignition timing does not normally need to
be
adjusted since the ECM is factory preset.
A fautty ignition system is often related to poor connections. Check connections before proceeding.
This motorcycle's ICM is built into the ECM.

6 .0 N'm (0.6 kgf'm, 4.4 Ibnt) Apply grease to the threads.
