Clean the chain with non-flammable or high
nash
point
solvent and
wipe it
dry.
Be sure the chain has dried completely before
lubricating.
Inspect the drive chain for possible damage or wear.
Replace any chain thai has damaged roliers, loose CLEAN
fitting links, or otherwise appears unserviceable.
Installing a new chain on badly worn sprockets will SOFT BRUSH
cause a new chain to wear quickly.
Inspect and replace sprocket as necessary.
WIPE AND DRY

Measure the distance between a span of 17 pins (16
r-
pitches) from pin center to pin center with the chain held
taut and any kinked joint straightened.
SERVICE LIMIT: 259
mm
(10.2 in)
If the measurement exceeds the service limit, replace
the chain.

lubricate the drive chain with #80 - 90 gear
oil
or drive

chain lubricant.
Wipe
off any excess oil or
chain lubricant.
#80 - 90 GEAR Oil OR
DRIVE CHAIN LUBRICANT
Check that the master link clip is in good condItIon, and

replace it if necessary.
Instalilhe drive chain onto the sprockets.
Install the master link and link plate.
Install the open end of the master link clip opposite the
direction of chain travel.
