Configuring ECMP
Before you begin
• ensure that you have a valid ECMP license
About this task
To allocate more routes to the same destination with the same cost learned by RIP, you must
enable ECMP.
The maximum number of routes you can configure to the same destination is four.
Procedure
1. At the ACLI Global Configuration mode command prompt, enter the rip
2. At the command prompt, enter the show ecmp command to review the new ECMP

RIP routes are learned then deleted and relearned

You must ensure that the timeout interval on the device that is cycling the RIP routes must be
the same or larger than the update interval on the peer device.

Task flow: RIP routes are learned and deleted and relearned

You can use the following task flow to help you change the timeout interval to stop the RIP
routes from cycling.
