2.6.1.1 Select a Suitable Mounting Location

To select a suitable mounting location, consider the following:
The mounting structure shall have sufficient room to mount the system.
The mounting structure shall be level in all directions, solid, and capable of holding the
forces required by the bolts. Check the strength and rigidity of the mounting structure
where the system is to be attached. Reinforce as necessary. The mounting structure
shall be of sufficient strength to support a vertical load of at least 106 kg (235 lb.) and a
bending moment due to wind loads while extended around the short side of the mast
base on the extended mast centerline of 2,485 Nm (22,000 in-lb.). These loads result in
expected maximum tensile loads on the base mounting bolts of 14,000 N (3,147 lb.).
The area underneath the mast shall be free of obstructions to allow for accessibility to
the fasteners.
The system is designed to withstand adverse weather conditions, however it cannot be
submerged in water. If the system is mounted in a well, provide adequate drainage. A
minimum of four 25 mm (1 inch) diameter drain holes (one per corner) are
recommended.
The Mast System shall be mounted out of reach in order to ensure safety distances and
prevent hazardous zones from being reached by upper extremities of operators or
bystanders. The base of the mast shall be installed at a 2.7 meter (8.8 feet) minimum
height above ground level or at a lower height with sufficient guarding or positioning on
the vehicle to prevent contact with the mast during operation.
Cables will eventually need routed between components of the system as follows:
o Control Box to Junction Box
o Junction Box to HHRC
o Customer Power to Control Box

2.6.1.2 Unpack the Night Scan Lite/Inflexion HD

During installation, it will be necessary to lift the mast. The process described in this manual
represents a possible method of lifting the mast. Depending on the environment and equipment
available, other methods may work better. Use the best and safest method for your
circumstances.
Safety Instruction – Observe Proper Procedures! Use extreme caution while lifting the Mast
System and when Mast System is suspended to avoid injury and equipment damage. Be certain
the Mast System is properly secured. All operators should be aware of and follow the applicable
local, regional, and national standards and codes of practice for slinging and transporting
equipment. Never lift Mast System over people. Ensure lifting equipment including, but not
limited to, lifting straps and hoist, are capable of handling the forces generated from lifting the
system. Do not lift the mast system using the lights, RCP, or upper tube section. Observe
manufacturer instructions on lifting equipment. Death or serious injury could result if proper
procedures are not followed.
