Examine the battery for cracks, electrolyte leaks and
corrosion. (F4)
8.
Examine the cyclic and collective control actuators for worn
bearings. Make sure they are correctly attached to the actuator
support. Examine the actuator pistons for score marks, pits,
wear and hydraulic leaks more than the allowable limits. (R1)
9.
Examine the upper universal bearings on the main rotor
pitch links for wear and looseness between the inner races and
the housing. Examine the lower rod ends for axial or radial
looseness. (R1)
10. Examine the tail rotor control actuator for worn bearings.
Make sure it is correctly attached. Examine the actuator piston
for score marks, pits, wear and hydraulic leaks more than the
allowable limits. (F3/F4)
11. Examine the tail rotor pitch links for worn bearings and
freedom of operation. (R2)
Clean the main and tail rotor blades more frequently
if operating in a corrosive environment or in extreme
environmental conditions.
12. Clean the main and tail rotor blades. Make sure the drain
hole located on the lower surface of the main rotor blade,
outboard of the attachment bolts, is clean. Inspect the main
rotor blade(s) cuff for water and/or debris accumulation. (R1/R2)
13. Inspect the main rotor blade leading edge for erosion.
Inspect the condition of the E-Nickel cap. Cracks in the cap are
acceptable provided there are no adjacent voids and
delamination.
14. When the blades are dry, apply WD-40 to the top and
bottom surfaces of the tail rotor blades. (R2)
15. Examine the main rotor adapter assemblies for evidence of
contact with the upper stop assembly plug. (R1)
