CONDITIONAL INSPECTIONS
INSPECTION TASK DESCRIPTION
e. Engine mounts:
(1) Examine the Number 1 and Number 2 engine
mounts for cracks or bent or damaged mount bolts. If you
scrapped the driveshaft or the sudden stoppage was bad
enough to crack the engine mounts, remove the engine and do
an overhaul. Make an entry in the component record to show
that the reason for removal was a sudden stoppage.
f. Transmission and mast assembly:
(1) If the mast was twisted or distorted, remove the
mast and transmission and scrap them.
(2) If you replaced the main driveshaft, remove and
scrap the outboard quill.
(3) If the mast was not twisted, and you did not
replace the main driveshafts, and the transmission does not
show any signs that would make it nonrepairable, do an
overhaul of the mast and transmission. Remove and scrap the
transmission top case. Make an entry in the component record
to show that the reason for removal was a sudden stoppage.
g. Tail rotor driveshaft system:
(1) Visually examine the tail rotor driveshaft tubes.
Make sure they are not bent or twisted.
(2) Remove the gear coupling assembly at the
transmission tail rotor output-quill. Disassemble the output quill
as necessary to examine the condition of both the drive and
coast side of the male and female coupling gear contact pattern.
(3) Make sure the torque on the nuts that attach the
tail rotor gearbox to the tailboom is correct.
(4) If you find any damage as a result of the following,
do an inspection for a tail rotor blade strike
not find any damage as a result of the following do not do

(a) The main rotor blade damage is enough to
make the blade nonrepairable.
