CONDITIONAL INSPECTIONS
INSPECTION TASK DESCRIPTION
If the landing gear airframe attach fittings are
damaged, remove the lower wing access covers.
Examine all of the wing attach fittings and bolts for
cracks or damage. Remove the under fuselage
access panels and examine the main beams for
damage.
d. Examine the main and nose gear drag arm and the
landing gear housing for damage and deformation at the
airframe attach points. Examine the airframe fittings for cracks
and damaged rivets.
If hydraulic fluid comes out of the shock strut when
you remove the air or when you cycle it, remove the
landing gear for further inspection.
e. Remove the air from the shock strut. Leave the air valve
open and cycle the shock struts. To cycle the shock struts,
manually raise and lower the wheel from the fully extended to
the fully compressed position. Make sure the shock strut does
not bind. If the shock strut does bind, remove the landing gear
for further inspection.
f. Raise the landing gears by hand to the retracted
position. Examine the landing gears for damage and looseness.
Make sure there is clearance between the landing gear and the
wheel well.
4.
If the helicopter has skid landing gear, remove the skid
gear from the helicopter and examine the forward and aft tubes
for deflection.
a. If the cross tubes deflection is more than the allowable
limit, examine the supports and structure that they are attached
to for yielding. Remove the access panels under the fuselage
and examine the main beams for damage.
b. If you do not find any damage to the supports and the
attach
structure,
