WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, on
vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supple-
mental restraint system before attempting any
steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt
tensioner, or instrument panel component diagno-
sis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery
negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for
the system capacitor to discharge before perform-
ing further diagnosis or service. This is the only
sure way to disable the supplemental restraint sys-
tem. Failure to take the proper precautions could
result in accidental airbag deployment.
STAN DARD PROCEDU RE
CLUSTER PROGRAMMING
NOTE: After replacing the Instrument Cluster (IC)
according to the service procedures, determine the
optional equipment on the vehicle by accessing the
sales code information using the Vehicle Identifica-
tion Number (VIN) on DealerCONNECT.
(1) Usin g t h e DRBIII , select MIS CELLAN EOU S
F U N CTION S in t h e In st r u m en t Clu st er (IC) sect ion .
(2) Select

(3) F ollowin g t h e pr om pt s on t h e DRBIII , en t er
t h e cor r ect pa r a m et er s t h a t a r e a pplica ble t o t h e
veh icle. Use t h e sa les code in for m a t ion a n d visu a l
in spect ion t o obt a in t h e cor r ect pa r a m et er s.
CAUTION: Do not lock down the instrument cluster
until the following steps are followed or the instru-
ment cluster may be irreversibly damaged.
(4) Aft er en t er in g t h e pr oper pa r a m et er s in t o t h e
IC, t u r n t h e ign it ion swit ch t o t h e OF F posit ion for
30 secon ds, t h en t u r n t h e ign it ion swit ch ON.
(5) Test dr ive t h e veh icle for a t lea st 10 m in u t es
befor e pr oceedin g.
(6) Ch eck ALL m odu les for a n y pa r a m et er iza t ion
DTCs. If a n y pa r a m et er iza t ion DTCs a r e pr esen t , on e
or m or e pa r a m et er s en t er ed in t o t h e IC a r e in cor r ect .
Ver ify a ll pa r a m et er s en t er ed u sin g t h e sa les code
in for m a t ion a n d visu a l in spect ion of t h e veh icle.
(7) If t h e pa r a m et er s en t er ed a r e ver ified a s cor-
r ect a n d pa r a m et er iza t ion DTCs a r e st ill pr esen t ,
r efer t o t h e a ppr opr ia t e dia gn ost ic in for m a t ion .
(8) If n o pa r a m et er iza t ion DTCs a r e pr esen t , lock
down t h e IC.
