ACCESSORY DRIVE
REM OVAL
REMOVAL
CAUTION: Do not attempt to check belt tension with
a belt tension gauge on vehicles equipped with an
automatic belt tensioner.
NOTE: The belt routing schematics are published
from the latest information available at the time of
publication. If anything differs between these sche-
matics and the Belt Routing Label, use the sche-
matics on Belt Routing Label.This label is located in
the engine compartment.
(1) Rem ove A/C com pr essor dr ive belt (Refer t o 7 -
COOLING/ACCE SSORY DRIVE /DRIVE
RE MOVAL).
(2) A 3/8 in ch squ a r e h ole is pr ovided in t h e a u t o-
m a t ic belt t en sion er. At t a ch a 3/8 in ch dr ive-lon g
h a n dle r a t ch et t o t h is h ole (F ig. 3).
(3) Rot a t e r a t ch et a n d t en sion er a ssem bly cou n t er-
clockwise (a s viewed fr om fr on t ) u n t il t en sion h a s
been r elieved fr om belt (F ig. 3).
(4) Rem ove belt fr om wa t er pu m p pu lley fir st .

REMOVAL
(1) Loosen t en sion a dju st er.
(2) Rem ove A/C com pr essor dr ive belt .
I N STALLAT I ON
INSTALLA TION
CAUTION: When installing the accessory drive belt,
the belt must be the correct length and routed cor-
rectly. If not, engine may overheat due to water
pump rotating in wrong direction.
(1) P osit ion dr ive belt over a ll pu lleys e x c e p t
wa t er pu m p pu lley (F ig. 4).
