ACCESSING AN LPS POWER SYSTEM

If LMS1000 is furnished in an LPS Power System, the LPS can be accessed by issuing
certain LMS1000 commands. Commands available can be viewed by entering the
LMS1000 command SET LPS.
Note: The LPS contains an MCA remote lockout feature which disables changing LPS
Note: Only one LMS1000 user is allowed to change LPS settings at a time. LMS1000
Password: When LMS1000 is initially powered up or during a reset, LMS1000
automatically issues a password to gain remote access to the LPS. A newly installed
LMS1000 issues the LPS's default remote access password (MARCONI!, in all capitol
letters). If the LPS's remote access password has been changed from its default, the
password issued by LMS1000 must also be changed. See command SET LPS
PASSWORD. You must know the existing password set in LMS1000 to change it. If
LMS1000 does not successfully connect with the LPS during power up or reset, a
message is displayed when a user attempts LPS access.
If the password is changed in LMS1000, record the new password in a secure place.
There is no way to view the password set in LMS1000.
Also, if the LPS MCA's remote access password is ever changed, record the new
password in a secure place. The current LPS MCA remote access password cannot be
viewed remotely from LMS1000. The password can be viewed locally, from the LPS
MCA's Interface Pad. Refer to the LPS manual for a procedure.
LMS1000 Event Log: Certain actions performed at the LPS's MCA local interface pad
and via LMS1000 are recorded in the LMS1000 event log. Refer to "Viewing and
Clearing the Event Log" in this chapter for a listing of recorded LPS events.
LMS1000 Alarm Log: Refer to "Viewing and Clearing the Alarm Log" in this chapter for
a list of LPS alarms that are recorded in the Alarm Log.
Note: Binary Channel B0085 monitors the communications link between the LMS1000
LMS1000 Commands: The LPS Interface provides analog channels A9901-A9907 and
binary channels B9901-B9946. These channels are dedicated to monitor predetermined
LPS MCA parameters. The function of these channels are preset and cannot be
changed. To efficiently use these channels with traditional (non-Vortex specific)
commands, refer to Table 2-2 which shows the mapping of LPS parameters to these
dedicated channels. The LMS also maps LPS bay parameters to LMS channels as
detailed in Table 2-3.
