• If any of the traces are not present, are noisy or distorted, or are at an incorrect level,
then there is a problem with the analyzer's measurement system. Proceed to

Where to Begin Troubleshooting

For the purposes of troubleshooting, the analyzer block diagram is divided into the
following functional groups:
• the source group
— A8 fractional-N synthesizer
— A10 frequency reference
— A11 phase lock
— A12 source 20
— A16 test set motherboard
— A17 LOMA 10
— A18 MA 20
— A19 splitter
— A20 LODA
— A21 SOMA 50 (E8363A and E8364A only)
• the signal separation group
— A22 switch splitter
— A23 and A24 detectors (E8363A and E8364A only)
— 30-dB fixed attenuators (E8362A only)
— A25 and A26 test port couplers
— A36 and A37 60-dB step attenuators (Option UNL only)
— A38 and A38 bias tees (Option UNL only)
— Port 1, Port 2, A, B, R1, and R2 ports
• the receiver group
— A27, A28, A29, and A30 first converters
— A31 receiver A
— A32 receiver R1
— A33 receiver R2
— A34 receiver B
— A35 receiver motherboard
— A6 SPAM
