The hard disk drive contains:
• the complete operating system
• the gen.lic file
• the mxcalfile_pxx files
• the user_calkitfile file
The operating system can be restored if it should become corrupt. Refer to
Appendix D,
"Operating System Recovery."
The gen.lic file contains option data, license data, and the model number. This file is
automatically created from data located in the EPROM on the A10 frequency reference
board upon startup, if a file is not already present (if the hard disk drive has been replaced,
for example). For the gen.lic file to be recreated from the data in EPROM, there must not
be an existing file on the hard disk. Refer to
"Repairing and Recovering Option Data" on
page B-5
in
Appendix B.
The mxcalfile_pxx files contain the receiver calibration data and can be recreated by
performing a receiver calibration adjustment. Refer to
"Receiver Calibration Adjustment"
on page
3-44. This file should, however, be backed up so that it can be restored from the
backup disk, eliminating the need to perform another receiver calibration. Refer to
"Copy
Unique Files from the Hard Disk" on page
7-60.
The user_calkitfile file contains user modified calibration kit data and must be restored
from a backup disc. Refer to
"Copy Unique Files from the Hard Disk" on page
7-60.
EPROMs
The following data is contained in EPROMs located on the specified printed circuit boards:
A10 frequency reference board
• option data
• license data
• model number
A16 test set motherboard
• serial number
Option data, license data, and model number can be restored into EPROM (if the A10
frequency reference board is replaced, for example) from the gen.lic file on the hard disk
using the Service, Option Enable Utility, Repair function. Refer to
"Repairing and
Recovering Option Data" on page B-5
in
Appendix B.
The serial number can be re-entered (if the A16 test set motherboard is replaced, for
example) using the Service, Option Enable Utility, Change Serial function. Refer to
"Installing or Changing a Serial Number" on page B-6
in
Appendix B.
