This chapter provides an outline of 3D-VIEW and its specifications.

7.1 Functional Outline

3D-VIEW is software allowing bird's-eye-view graphics and 3D displays to be produced as
well as height measurement of a given specimen to be performed, by using a BSE
(backscattered electron) detector with four segments to obtain 3D information of a specimen.
This software is composed of "3D-Image Capture" that captures BSE images necessary for
3D display and "3D-Image Viewer" that performs 3D display and measurement. The
flowchart below shows a sequence of events leading to 3D image display and the functions
employed in the process.
