2b. Drag the mouse to the right or left direction, and focus correspondingly changes to be
fine-adjusted. Move the particular point to be focused to the center of the image, and
select [Reduce] in [View mode settings area] (see 4.3.11.3). This limits the field of
view to near the center of the screen. When dragging it to the right, the focal length
becomes shorter; when dragging it to the left, it becomes longer. While viewing the
image, perform adjustment to achieve an appropriate focus. Adjustment can be
continued until the left mouse button is released even if the cursor moves outside of
the [Focus] button.
NOTE : The focal length (D) shows the distance between a specimen surface and a BSE
detector after setting the specimen on the specimen stage. If [Distance] is selected
in the information block (see 4.3.25.(a)), the value of D is displayed in the
information area on the operation window.

4.3.22 Auto Focus Button

Focus can be automatically adjusted by clicking the [Auto Focus] button. The dialog appears
during the processing. When the processing is completed, it disappears.
