If the tele phone line IS NOT CONNECTED to the
Panel, the Tele phone line check op tion must be
DISABLED. If it is not Dis abled, the Con trol panel
will sig nal Line-down sta tus per sis tently (re fer to
"Tele phone" in the "PROGRAMMING" sec tion).
Con nect Line-shar ing de vices (Fax, Answerphone,
etc.) to the [LI] ter mi nals. This will al low the Con trol
panel to take pri or ity ONLY in the event of an alarm.
Con nect the [-] ter mi nal to the Mains Earth — this will
pro tect the PCB against surges from the Tele phone line.

En sure that the Mains Earth is fully in tact and
op er at ing prop erly be fore con nect ing the Tele -
phone line.

Connecting a Power Supply

In or der to com ply with the Safety reg u la tions in force,
the Mains must be equipped with a bi po lar iso lat ing de -
vice for pro tec tion against over volt age and short-cir cuit
to Earth (e.g. au to matic iso lat ing switch).
The KYO320 is pow ered from the Mains (230V/50 Hz)
through a Switching power sup ply, lo cated in side the
cab i net. The cab i net can also house a backup bat tery
(not in cluded) for power backup dur ing Mains fail ure.
Pro grammed data will be pro tected at all times by the
RAM bat tery.
Mains fail ure will be sig nalled by the:
OFF sta tus of in di ca tor 28 on the Main board;
ON sta tus of the G in di ca tor on Key pads;
Warn ing Mains fail ure event.

The Warn ing Mains fail ure event will be sig nalled
af ter the pro grammed de lay (re fer to "Fil ter Times"
in the "PROGRAMMING FROM PC" sec tion).
The Con trol panel will mon i tor the bat tery at all times,
(re fer to Static Test and Dy namic Test).
Static Test The Static Test mon i tors the bat tery
charge dur ing Mains fail ure. Low bat tery sta tus (be low
11.4 V) will be sig nalled by the:
Low bat tery event;
ON sta tus of the G in di ca tor on Key pads.
If this oc curs, the Mains power must be re stored be fore
the bat tery emp ties, oth er wise, the sys tem will shut -
down.
Low bat tery restoral (over 12.3 V) will be sig nalled by:
the end of the Warn ing low bat tery event;
OFF sta tus of the G in di ca tor on Key pad.
The con trol panel shuthdown the backup Bat tery
due to volt age drop (Safety thresh old 9,6V), be -
cause this con di tion can dam age the bat tery
Dynamic Test The Dy namic Test mon i tors the op er -
at ing ca pac ity of the bat tery. Failed Test (bat tery does
not meet the Test re quire ments) will be sig nalled by the:
Warn ing power trou ble event;
ON sta tus of the G in di ca tor on Key pads.
If this oc curs, the backup bat tery must be re placed im -
me di ately, oth er wise, the sys tem will be un able to func -
tion in the event of Mains fail ure (black-out).
Bat tery trou ble restoral will be sig nalled by the:
end of the Warn ing power trou ble event;
Off sta tus of the G in di ca tor on Key pads.
