This type
of carburettor
has been .designed
with a view to the
exhaust
emission
cO'n~rol
system.
It
is
provi,ded with a fixed
je.t,
pressed
into
the carburettor
housing, the fuel flow
ortfice
area of which is varied
by means of a movable tapered needle.
The
po·
s
ition
of the needle
is
determined by the carhurettor hous-
ing
vacuum
opera:f1ing
an air valve
in
which the needle
is fitted
in
a
spring-,Ioad
ed s uspens
ion
.
The
spr
ing
force
always presses the needle against the same side of
the
jet,
and rhis
ensures
an accurately
oontro
Hed
fuel
flow through the jet.
The
carburettor consists of three main parts of
light-
alHoy, the middle
pa1
rt of which comprises the carbu-
retto,r housing. The
lower
section is made up of a
floatchamber, which encloses
.the jet
and the fleat.
The upper
,

ection
consists ef a suotien chamber cever,
which forms a
suctien
·
c
hamber
together
with
a
diaphragm fixed in the air valve. The suctien cham-
ber Iregulates the air valve

and

reby
the
leca-
tion of the needle in the
jet.
