INSPECTING
After
the
dismantling, clean all
,
t
he
parts
in white
spirit
and
-
c heck for
wear
or
other
damage.
Check

he
g'

r whe,els particularly for
cracks or
scoring on
the
te,

s urfaces.
Damager
d or
worn
gear
wheels
should
be
replaced.
Check
the synohronizing
cones,
also
the orther parts
of
the
synchronrizing
devices. Darmaged or
worn
parts
should
be
r,

pl-
aced.
Check the
baH bea,rings
especiaHy fOrr scoring or
cra.cks in
the
bearing
races
or on
the
balls.

Assemble 1st-2nd
and 3rd-4th
speed synchronizers.
Fit
the
snap rings correctly,
see
Fig. 4-26.

synchronizing
cone. Press the main·
shaft into the
synchronizing
hub as shown in Fig.
4-27. When doing this, turn the 3rd speed gear
wheel
in
order to check that this gear as weil as
the
needle
hearing fit cOl'1rectly. Try out a circlip
w
hi
ch fills
the
gr
rO'ove weil and fit the circliip.

st-2nd speed synchronizer,

chronizing
cone,
2nd
speed
gear
wheel,
and
needle bearing on
ring
SYO 2852.
Make
sure tha
t
the gear ring on the
engaging
s
leeve
comes forwards
and
that
the
flanges
fit correctly
in
the gll1o'oves of the syn·
chronizting
