Upgrading firmware
It is recommended that you maintain your instrument up-to-date with its latest firmware in
order to achieve the instrument's optimal performance. Visit JDSU's website at
www.jdsu.com to check the latest version for your instrument and download it if any newer
version is available. See "Checking system information" on page 155.

The Instrument Settings window appears as shown in Figure 106.
Tap the bar for the LAN.
The LAN window appears.
Select the IP addressing option, from the following choices:

To enable automatic IP addressing, select DHCP for the Mode.

To manually assign fixed IP addresses, complete the following steps:
a
Select Static for the Mode.

Enter an address for the IP Address.
c
Enter an address for the Net Mask.
d
Enter an address for the Gateway.

Enter an address for the DNS Server.
Tap the Apply button to save.
Press the MODE hard key and then tap the System button.
The System window appears.
Touch the Instrument Settings tab.
The Instrument Settings window appears as shown in Figure 106.
Select the upgrade option you want, from the following choices:

To upgrade from your USB memory drive, complete the following steps:
a
Download the latest version of firmware for the instrument and then unzip it into the root
directory of your USB memory drive with more than 100 MB free space.

Plug in the USB memory drive into either of the USB Host ports.

Tap the USB button for the Upgrade.
The Upgrade file manager window appears.
Highlight the latest firmware file in .fw file type.

Tap the Upgrade button.
The Update Firmware dialog box appears.

Select OK to confirm.
NOTE
Do not remove the USB memory drive until the update is completed with
100% indication.

When the update is completed, reboot your instrument.

To upgrade from the FTP server over the network, complete the following steps:
a
Tap the Server button for the Upgrade.
The upgrade server dialog box appears.
