Setting a limit line

Procedure
1
Press the LIMIT hard key to display the Limit screen menu bar.

Select the Limit Alarm option by toggling the screen key between On and Off.
If you select On, the instrument goes off an alarm when a result falls outside of defined limits.

Select the Pass/Fail result option by toggling the screen between On and Off.
If you select On, the instrument displays "PASS" or "FAIL" result on the screen.

Tap the Limit Line screen key to display the Limit Line screen menu bar.

Toggle the Limit Upper/Lower screen key to select the option between Upper and Lower.
Default setting is Upper for VSWR and Return Loss, and Lower for 1 Port Cable Loss.

Toggle the Limit On/Off screen key and select On to enable the limit line.

To set the number of segments for the limit line, complete the following steps:
a
Tap the # of Line screen key.

Enter a value between 1 and 25 by using the numeric keys, and then press the ENTER hard
key. You can also turn the rotary knob to change the number.
The instrument automatically sets thresholds for the limit line segments.
See Figure 88 for an example of the limit line with multiple segments.

Optional. To move the displayed limit line, complete the following steps:
a
Tap the Move Limit screen key.

Enter a value by using the numeric keys, and then press the ENTER hard key. You can also
turn the rotary knob to change the number.

Optional. You can edit a multi-segment limit line only. To edit the limit line segments, complete the
following steps:
a
Tap the Edit Limit screen key to display the Edit Limit screen menu bar.

Touch the Move Point screen key, and then turn the rotary knob slowly to select the point
that you want to edit. You can also tap the Move Point screen key. Each time you tap this
key, the selection of point moves to the right.

Do the following as needed:
To change the X-axis coordinate of the point, tap the [Frequency|Distance] screen key
and then turn the rotary knob. You can also use the numeric keys to enter a value
manually.
To change the Y-axis coordinate of the point, tap the Amplitude screen key and then
turn the rotary knob. You can also use the numeric keys to enter a value manually.
To hide the segment, toggle the Line On/Off screen key and select Off.
See Figure 89 for an example of the limit line with gaps.
To add a new point on the right from the point, tap the Add Point screen key.
To delete the selected point, tap the Delete Point screen key.

Press the ESC hard key to return to the Limit Line screen menus.
Optional. To save the limit settings, press the SAVE/LOAD hard key. See "Using save/load" on
