Note: Make sure that the newly-installed fan aligns horizontally with other correctly-seated fans
for proper installation.
Step 7.
Replace the cover (see "Replacing the cover" on page 196).
Step 8.
Slide the server into the rack.
Removing the fan bracket
To replace some components or to create working room, you might have to remove the fan bracket.
Note: To remove or install a fan, it is not necessary to remove the fan bracket. See "Removing a hot-swap
fan" on page 241 and "Replacing a hot-swap fan" on page 242.
To remove the fan bracket, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information that begins on "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines"
on page 34.
Step 2.
Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
Step 3.
Remove the cover (see "Removing the cover" on page 195).
Step 4.
Remove the fans (see "Removing a hot-swap fan" on page 241).
Step 5.
Remove the fan bracket.

If there are screws installed in the fan bracket, remove the three screws.
Note: Use the hex screw driver to remove the screws.
