Configuring DTC Manager for operation with
MC/ServiceGuard
MC/ServiceGuard ensures non-interrupted operation or "high availability" for
DTC Manager/UX by providing the capability to transfer DTC management to
another HP 9000 host (node) in the event of system failure.
MC/ServiceGuard manages a "package" of applications that can be relocated to
another node within an MC/ServiceGuard cluster.

If the original host fails, another system in the cluster (the adoptive host) takes over
management of the original host's DTC(s). The original host is returned to the
cluster when it is operational again. However, the adoptive host retains ownership of
the DTC(s) until it fails, or until the system manager intervenes to return ownership
to the original host.
The system administrator can manually transfer the management of the DTCs
temporarily to another node in the cluster to perform system maintenance on the
original host.
