3) Communication cable
NOTICE
Select the communication cable according to the shape of the RS-232C connector of the personal
computer used. When fabricating the cable, refer to the connection diagram in this section. The
following must be observed in fabrication:
Always use a shielded, multi-core cable and connect the shield with FG securely.
The optional communication cable is 3m (10 ft) long. When the cable is fabricated, its maximum
length is 15m (49 ft) in offices of good environment with minimal noise.

Note: The PC98 Notes having the connector of half-pitch 14 pins are also available. Confirm the
shape of the RS-232C connector of the personal computer used.
This cable may not be used with some personal computers. After fully examining the
signals of the RS-232C connector, refer to this section and fabricate the cable.
