Sub-Fuel Tank/Fuel Pump Inspection; Throttle Body Cover Removal/Installation - Honda TRX500FM Service Manual

THROTTLE BODY COVER REMOVAL!
INSTALLATION
Remove the seat (page 2-4).
Release the following:
- rear final gear case breather hose [1)
- rea r brake panel breather hose f2J
Remove the two trim dips [3] and the throttle body
cover [4] from the seal re tainer [5).
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
SUB-FUEL TANK/FUEL PUMP
INSPECTION
Remove the right side cover (page 2-4).
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine stop switch
and confirm that the fuel pump operates for a few
seconds.
If the fuel pump does nol operate. inspect as follows:
Turn the ignition switch OFF .
Pull the rubber boot [11 off the sub-fuel tank/fuel pump
assembly and disconnect the fuel pump 2P (Black)
connector
[2).
Turn the ignition switch ON and engine SlOp switch "0·,
measure the voltage between the terminals of the wire
harness side 2P (Black) connector [1] .
Connection: B rown (+) - Green (- )
There should be battery voltage for a few seconds after
the ignition switch turned ON and engine stop switch
"0".
If there is battery vol tage, replace the fuel pump unit.
If there is no voltage. check the following:
- open circui t in the Brown or Green wires
- IG N fuse (10 A)
- fuel pump relay (page 4-29) and its circuits
- engine stop switch line of the PCM/ECM (page 4-36)
- power/ground lines of the PCM/ECM (page 4-35)
