Clean around the

plug.

Remove the left side cover (page 24).
Disconnect the spark plug cap (1) and clean around the
spark plug base.
Remove the spark plug (2).
Check the insulator [1 ) for cracks or damage, and the

electrodes for wear, fouling or discoloration. Replace
the plug
if
necessary.
RECOMMENDED SPARK PLUG :
BKR5E·11 (NGK). K16PR·U11 (DENSO)
Clean the spark plug center electrode (2) and side
electrode (3] with a wire-type brush or special plug
cleaner.

Check the spark plug gap between the center and side
electrodes with a wire-type feeler gauge.
SPARK PLUG GAP: 1.0 - 1.1 mm (0.039 - 0.043 in)
If
necessary,
adjust the gap by bending the side
electrode carefully.
Thread the spark plug in by hand to prevent cross-
threading and tighten it to the specified torque with a
spark plug wrench .
TORQUE : 22 N'm (2.2 kgf'm , 16

Connect the spark plug cap and install the left side
cover (page 2-4).
