Primary Boom Components

Plastic Cable Track

The primary boom cable track guides the cables
and hoses running up the boom. It can be repaired
link by link without removing the cables and hoses
that run through it. Removing the entire primary
boom cable track is only necessary when
performing major repairs that involve removing the
primary boom.
How to Remove the Cable Track,
Z-45/25 Models
When removing a hose assembly
or fitting, the O-ring on the fitting
and/or hose end must be replaced
and then torqued to specification
during installation. Refer to
Section Two, Hydraulic Hose and
Fitting Torque Specifications.
1 Locate the cables from the primary boom cable
track to the platform control box. Number each
cable and its entry location at the platform
control box.
2 Open the platform control box.

3 Label and disconnect each wire of the cables
that enter the platform control box.
4 Pull all of the cables out of the platform control
box.
5 Pull all of the electrical cables out of the plastic
cable track. Do not pull out the hydraulic hoses.
6 Raise the primary boom to a horizontal position.
7 Tag, disconnect and plug the platform rotator
hydraulic hoses at the union located above the
primary boom lift cylinder. Cap the fittings on
the unions.

Remove all rings, watches and
other jewelry.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.
