Jib Boom

How to Remove the Jib Boom
Note: Perform this procedure with the boom in the
stowed position.
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hose
end must be replaced. All connections must be
torqued to specification during installation. Refer to
Specifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting Torque
Specifications.

Remove the platform. Refer to Repair
Procedure, How to Remove the Platform.
Note: Models equipped with platform overload
system: If the platform overload components are
disassembled and/or removed from the platform
support, the platform overload system will need to
be calibrated. Refer to Repair Procedure, How to
Calibrate the Platform Overload System.

Models equipped with platform overload
system: Tag and disconnect the electrical
connector from the platform load sense
module.

Remove the hose and cable cover from the
side of the jib boom.

Remove the hose and cable clamp from the jib
boom pivot pin. Lay all hoses and cables to
the side.
Component damage hazard.
Cables and hoses can be
damaged if they are kinked or
pinched.

Tag, disconnect and plug the jib boom lift
cylinder hydraulic hoses. Cap the fittings on
the cylinder.

Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane
to the jib boom assembly.

Place blocks under the platform leveling
cylinder for support. Protect the cylinder rod
from damage.

Remove the pin retaining fastener from the
slave cylinder rod-end pivot pin. Use a soft
metal drift to remove the pin.

Remove the pin retaining fastener from the jib
boom bellcrank to primary boom pivot pin.
10 Use a soft metal drift to remove the pin and
carefully remove the jib boom assembly from
the primary boom.

Service Manual
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.
Crushing hazard. The jib boom
could fall when the slave cylinder
rod-end pivot pin is removed if
not properly attached to the
overhead crane.
Crushing hazard. The jib boom
may become unbalanced and fall
when it is removed from the
machine if it is not properly
supported by the overhead
crane.
