11 Clean up any diesel fuel that may have spilled
during the installation procedure.
12 Install the fuel supply hose from the fuel tank to
the fuel filter/water separator. Tighten the
clamp.
Bleed the system:
13 Loosen the vent plug on top of the fuel injection
pump.

c fuel lift pump
14 Operate the priming lever or priming bulb (if
equipped) of the fuel lift pump until fuel, free
from air, comes from the vent plug.
15 Clean up any fuel that may have spilled during
this procedure.

16 Operate the starter motor for intervals of 15
seconds until the engine starts.

It is important to allow the starter
motor to cool for 30 seconds
between each 15 second interval
of operation.
If the engine runs correctly for a
short time and then stops or runs
roughly, check for air in the fuel
system. If there is air in the fuel
system, there is probably a leak in
the low pressure side of the
system.
