Encrypting Data in the Address Book

This can be specified by the user administrator.
You can encrypt the data in the Address Book using the extended security function, "Encrypt Address Book".
For details about this and other extended security functions, see p.129 "Specifying the Extended Security
Functions".
For details about logging in and logging out with administrator authentication, see p.25 "Logging in Using
Administrator Authentication", p.25 "Logging out Using Administrator Authentication".
1. Press the [Menu] key.
2. Press the [ ] or [ ] key to select [Security Options], and then press the [OK] key.
3. Press the [ ] or [ ] key to select [Extended Security], and then press the [OK] key.
4. Press the [ ] or [ ] key to select [Encrypt Address Book], and then press the [OK] key.

5. Press the [ ] or [ ] key to select [On], and then press [Enc.Key].
6. Enter the encryption key, and then press the [OK] key.
Enter the encryption key using up to 32 alphanumeric characters.
7. Re-enter the encryption key, and then press the [OK] key.
8. Press [OK].
Do not switch the main power off during encryption, as doing so may corrupt the data.
Encrypting the data in the address book may take a long time.
The time it takes to encrypt the data in the address book depends on the number of registered users.
The printer cannot be used during encryption.
Normally, once encryption is complete, [Exit] appears.
If you press the [Escape] key during encryption, the data is not encrypted.
If you press the [Escape] key during decryption, the data stays encrypted.
9. Press [Exit].
10. Press the [Menu] key.
• If you register additional users after encrypting the data in the Address Book, those users are also
encrypted.
