Automatic termination of connection upon inactivity

Here you can define, after how many seconds of inactivity the Internet connection

shall automatically be terminated. It may occur, however, that the connection will re-

main active because of requests from the Internet (downstream) although your com-

puter has already been switched off. Therefore, you should terminate the connection

manually during long breaks. If you wish to disable this function, simply enter the

value 0.

Maximum duration of connection

Here you can define the maximum duration of Internet connection. Please keep in

mind that the connection will be terminated after the programmed duration regard-

less of current data transfers. If you wish to disable this function, simply enter the

value 0.

Deadline for settlement period

If you agreed upon a 'volume rate' (this rate type provides you with a certain amount

of data that can be transferred), the deadline for the settlement period can be deter-

mined here. This day then is the basis for the volume calculation.

Example: Your Internet provider starts the volume calculation at the 14 of the month.

Therefore, the 14 can be entered as deadline enabling you to control your data con-

sumption by means of the statistic function.

TCP/IP-address

Depending on the kind of DSL connection, it might not be possible to obtain the IP

address automatically. In this case, you have to click on the selection field "use the

following IP address" and enter the IP address allocated by your provider.

Usually you enter a name instead of the IP address in your Internet browser. In order

that the name can be replaced with the IP address, an inquiry at a DNS server has to

be made. Depending on the kind of DSL connection, it might not be possible to ob-

tain the DNS address automatically. In this case, you have to click on the selection

field "use the following DNS address" and enter the DNS address(es) allocated by

your provider.
