Configuration: Network
Access point IP address
Here the IP address of your access point module is indicated. The IP address will
automatically be assigned by your telephone system. This IP address must not be
used by any further device.

Settings

Network ID
The network ID (SSID) is used for the identification of connections in the WLAN. Cli-
ents (for example notebooks with a WLAN interface card) can log in to different ac-
cess points with the same ID according to their current location (roaming).
Channel
Here, the radio channel code has to be entered. Each access point of your network
must have another channel code. Access points which are located near to each
other, should have a widest possible channel distance.
Antenna
Your access point has two antennas. This menu is used to select, which of them shall
be used. The setting "automatic selection" means that the antenna with the best re-
ception will automatically be used.

WEP code

This menu is used to define, whether the data shall be coded according to the WEP
standard. The code key must be the same for all WLAN terminals. Before entering the
desired code, select the code depth (64 Bit, 128 Bit or 256 Bit) and code type (HEX
or ASCII). The selection depends on the possible settings of the other WLAN termi-
nals and the desired security (code depth).

Allowed MAC addresses

In principle everybody can log on the network from anywhere via wireless LAN, pro-
vided that the user is within the range of the telephone system. An enabled WEP
code does not guarantee a 100 % protection. However, a quite safe method is the
filtering of MAC addresses: Each terminal has its individual MAC address, which was
programmed by the manufacturer. Only terminals with allowed MAC addresses can
log on the network. The MAC address is usually printed on the type label of your
WLAN card.
