To cancel the redundant functionality on the Media Gateway board, right-click on the
designated board and from the popup menu, select the Make Board Non Redundant
option.
If the redundant Media Gateway board is utilized to cover the functionality of
a failed Media Gateway board, it is incumbent on the operator to replace the
failed Media Gateway board and return the redundant Media Gateway board
to Standby status as soon as possible. This way, the redundant Media
Gateway board can resume its protecting status should a Media Gateway
board again require backup coverage.

Redundancy-Related Media Gateway Board Configuration

The following are a list of Media Gateway Board redundancy-related parameters.
Redundancy Group Level
Parameter name: Force Warm Redundancy
The Force Warm Redundancy parameter default is disabled. If this parameter is
enabled, the warm Media Gateway board switchover (with Redundant board reset and
calls dropping) is performed upon Media Gateway board failure, although there are
conditions for applying HOT redundancy. This mode exists for backward compatibility
with the older version.
Parameter name: Failed Board Automatic Switchover
The Failed Board Automatic Switchover parameter default is Enabled. The
parameter actually enables or disables the Media Gateway board switchover
(protection) feature. When this parameter is disabled, the Media Gateway board is
reset upon failure only and functionality is not switched to the redundant board (no
matter if it is set for hot or warm redundancy).
Media Gateway Board Level
Parameter name: Protection Required
The Protection Required parameter is read-only at the Media Gateway board level,
which actually reflects the configuration provided at Redundancy group level at the
board's perspective. It indicates which protection is required for certain Media
Gateway boards according to configuration settings.
Parameter name: RedundantMode
The RedundantMode parameter is read-only at Media Gateway board level, which
indicates the real state of certain Media Gateway boards (according to the current
conditions). It indicates which protection mode is to be applied to certain Media
Gateway boards, in case of failure or manual Media Gateway board switchover.
12.9.2

Ethernet Switch Boards Redundancy

The two Ethernet Switch boards operate as an Active/Standby pair. In the Avaya
G860 Media Gateway, the Ethernet Switch board in slot 3 is the initially Active
Ethernet Switch board (in the default settings) and the Ethernet Switch board in slot 4
is the initially Redundant (Standby) board. As displayed in the EMS, the Active
Ethernet Switch board is displayed in black and the Standby Ethernet Switch board is
