Connecting a G700 Media
Gateway to an S8700 Media
Server Configuration
The processor for an Avaya
serves as a remote port network. An Avaya
the G700. The G700 connects to the S8700 over a 10/100BaseT ethernet LAN or WAN (Figure 1). The
G700 is not equipped with an S8300 Media Server; although it could be configured as a Local Spare
Processor (LSP), which provides service to local users if the G700 loses its connection to the S8700.
Perform the tasks described in this section to connect a G700 to an S8700. The task descriptions assume that
other components of the S8700 are already installed and administered and that the G700 is added to serve as
a new remote media gateway.
Note: In this configuration, the license file for the S8300, if any, must be for a Local
Survivable Processor only and the configuration setup must indicate that the
configuration is for an LSP. The primary controller cannot be an S8300, but must
be the S8700.
