Console Terminal Cabling

The console terminal is connected to either the SC's PS2 COM serial port or the serial
port on the SA/RTM for the purpose of performing the initial software installation
procedure. This procedure must be performed on both of the SC boards.
The pin assignments for the SC's PS2 Com serial port are detailed in 'Front Panel
PS2 COM Serial Port' on page 31.
The SA/RTM has a serial port with stacked DB-9 connectors. The RS-232 Console
Port 9-pin female D-type connector on the SA/RTM and its pin assignments are
detailed in' SA/RTM RS-232 Console Pin Signal Interface'.
The connector is assigned to SC's Port A.
To connect the console terminal, take this step:
On the SA/RTM associated with the SC board that is to be the initial active, connect
the RS232 cable from the PC console terminal to either the SC's PS2 COM serial port
or the serial port on the SA/RTM.

9. Configuring System Controller Software for the First Time

Solaris™ 2.8/2.9 and the SC software are pre-installed on the system
disks; therefore do not install either Solaris™ or the SC software.
The software configuration procedure described in this section must be
performed on both of the System Controller (SC) boards (the Master SC
board or the one designated to be the Active board initially, as well as the
Redundant SC board or the one designated to be the Standby board
initially).
Examples may display options selected for a specific system, but are
generically applicable to all systems.
