    The Avaya G860 Media Gateway configuration complies with NEBS Level 3 requirements (Avaya G860 Media Gateway chassis – designed to meet - approval pending), and conforms to CompactPCI PICMG 2.0 standards. They each contain a 10-slot card cage. All component boards have a sturdy, hot-swap cPCI 6U form factor.

    National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), ANSI/IEEE C2.[36] Safety Earth Intrinsically, the Avaya G860 Media Gateway chassis must be safety-earthed using an equipment-earthing conductor. Do not depend on locknut-bushings and double- locknuts for bonding purposes. Use the earthing hardware provided with the chassis.

    Power Consumption DC Input Power For the Avaya G860 Media Gateway, the average power consumption for a full complement of boards is approximately 696 watts (14.5 A at 48 VDC). Two Power Entry Modules (PEM) are provided for DC connections on the rear of the chassis.

    Cooling System The Avaya G860 Media Gateway components are cooled by a fan tray unit (FM), located at the left of the card cage. The fan tray unit draws cool air in through a perforated grill on the left side of the chassis.

    The clean air is drawn by the fans and passes through the entire set of plug-in front and rear boards residing in the slots, cooling each one. The air exits the Avaya G860 Media Gateway via perforated vents in the chassis.

    The Avaya G860 Media Gateway complies with Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) requirements for racks. The Avaya G860 Media Gateway is provided with mounting flanges on either side of the front of the chassis, appropriate for standard 19-inch racks(provided by Customers).

    The earth connection’s resistance must not be greater than 0.1 ohm. Verify that the rack’s earthing is properly done. Earthing provisions for the Avaya G860 Media Gateway are located on the Power Entry Module (PEM) panel, as shown in the figure below. There are two earth connectors situated immediately to the right of each DC power connector or to the left of the AC power connector.

    Check that the SA/RTM alarm cabling is secured to the Avaya G860 Media Gateway chassis as well as to the external equipment. Check that the Ethernet Switch fiber optic cabling is secured to the Avaya G860 Media Gateway chassis as well as to the external equipment.

    9. Configuring System Controller Software for the First Time Configuring System Controller Software for the First Time The System Controller (SC) software is pre-installed on the SC board. You are required to configure the preinstalled Sun™ Solaris ™ 2.8/2.9 configuration files and SC software.
