PSTN network.

Adding Media Gateway Boards to a Avaya G860
Media Gateway System
You can add more media gateway boards to a system that was originally ordered with
less than the full capacity of Media Gateway boards. Ahydding a board consists of two
proceedures:
Physically adding the board and RTM to the chassis using the procedures in'
Hardware Replacement Procedures' on page 131, according to the constraints listed
below.
Adding the board in the EMS (refer to 'Adding the Media Gateway Board in the EMS'
on page 154).
14.4.1
Constraints for Adding Boards to the Avaya G860 Media
Gateway
For system configurations with TPM boards:
Slots 7 to 10 are used for provisioning up to 4 TPM boards (including the redundant
TPM board) according to the customer's requirements. The corresponding RTMs are
located in the rear cage of the Avaya G860 Media Gateway Media Gateway in the
corresponding slot.
In less than a full configuration, place boards from slot 10 to 7, adding boards from the
highest slot number to the lowest slot number. Unused slots must be covered using
the appropriate blank panel. Refer to the .'Board Assembly Order' on page 41.
14.4.2

Adding the Media Gateway Board in the EMS

To add a Media Gateway board in the EMS, take these 8 steps:
1.
On the MG Status screen of the EMS (showing a graphic representation of the
Avaya G860 Media Gateway, select the Media Gateway Board (TPM) and right
click-on it.
2.
From the popup menu, select the board type you are to add. A second popup
menu appears. From the second popup menu, select SIP.
A graphic representation of the board is added to the Media Gateway depicted on
the screen. The newly added board is locked.
3.
Provision the board using the appropriate steps in 'Configuring the Media
Gateway Board Parameters'. You can configure the board by entering
information in the following screens, found under the properties tab of the board:
