You can upgrade software packages on a single fixed-configuration switch, on an
individual member of a Virtual Chassis, or for all members of a Virtual Chassis.
You can use the J-Web interface to install software upgrades from a server using FTP or
HTTP, or by copying the file to the EX Series switch.

To install software upgrades from a remote server by using FTP or HTTP:
Download the software package as described in "Downloading Software Packages

from Juniper Networks" on page 83.
Log in to the Juniper Networks authentication system using the username (generally

your e-mail address) and password supplied by Juniper Networks representatives.
In the J-Web interface, select Maintain>Software>Install Package.

On the Install Remote page, enter information into the fields described in Table 27 on

Click Fetch and Install Package. The software is activated after the switch has

rebooted.
Your Action
Type the full address of the software package
location on the FTP or HTTP server—one of the
following:
ftp://hostname/pathname/package-name
http://hostname/pathname/package-name
Type the username.
Type the password.
Check the box if you want the switching platform to
reboot automatically when the upgrade is complete.
