(a)  Toner near empty detection timing
• Get hold of the remaining amount in the toner cartridge based on the toner supply motor rotating time (accumulated amount of toner
supplied) and the T/C ratio detected by the TCR sensor, and judge it as near-empty condition when the toner remaining amount is
lower than the toner remaining amount threshold value.
(b)  Toner near-empty display
• The warning screen to be displayed when a toner near-empty is detected can be enabled or disabled in the "System 2/ Unit Change" in
the Service Mode.
• When the warning screen display is set to "Yes", the message notifying the user that the toner cartridge needs replacing soon is
displayed. (Toner is low. Replace when indicated) Printing can be continued even after the message appears.
• When the warning screen display is set to "No", the message notifying the user that the toner cartridge needs replacing soon is not
displayed. Printing can be continued without having the message displayed.
(c)  Resetting the toner near empty conditions
• The toner near-empty condition is reset when a new toner cartridge is detected.
• The toner near-empty condition is reset when it reached toner empty condition.
(d)  Toner empty condition resetting timing
• "The main power switch is turned ON"
"Release in sub power off mode"
"The front door or the like is opened and closed"
"When a new toner cartridge is detected"
(7)  Toner empty condition detection
• The toner empty condition is determined based on T/C ratio detected by the TCR sensor installed in each color of imaging unit.
(a)  Toner empty detection timing
• The machine determines a toner empty condition when the following conditions is detected after a toner near empty condition has
been detected. It then gives the message "Toner has been depleted. (snip)" on the operation panel.
1. The TCR sensor detects a TC ratio that is lower than a predetermined value.
(b)  Toner empty display
• The screen mode to be displayed when a toner empty is detected can be selected by specifying the person who replaces the unit in
the "System 2/ Unit Change" in the Service Mode.
• When User is selected as the person, the message requesting toner cartridge replacement by user is displayed when a toner empty
condition is detected. (Toner has been depleted. Replace the Toner Cartridge according to the instructions.)
• When Service is selected as the person, the message prompting service engineer to replace the toner cartridge is displayed. (Out of
toner. Contact your service representative.)
(c)  Resetting the toner empty conditions
• The toner empty condition is reset when a new toner cartridge is detected.
• The toner empty condition is reset when "Auxiliary toner replenishing control" is conducted after detecting the toner empty condition
and the completed normally.
NOTE
▪ "Auxiliary toner replenishing control" is available when Engine FW DipSW "6" is set to "ON."
(d)  Toner empty condition resetting timing
• The "auxiliary toner replenishing control" is executed under any of the following conditions after a toner empty condition has been
detected:
"When a new toner cartridge is detected," "When Engine FW DipSW '6' is set to 'ON'."
(8)  Monochrome prints
• The color print is disabled when any of the C, M, and Y toner cartridges is empty. Monochrome print only is, however, enabled if the K
toner cartridge is not empty.
• The monochrome print is also controlled by the ordinary near-empty and empty condition detection methods.
