Alarms: Description
The Monitor provides visible and audible indications of patient- and system-
related alarm conditions. An alarm can generate an audible indication, a
message on the screen, a printed document, and is recorded in the view event
memory. All active alarm messages appear in the alarm message field. In
addition, alarm indicators can appear in the vital signs field, the waveform field,
and/or the SelectBox. All active alarm indicators appear in color.

Using the adjust alarms menu option, you can set alarm limits and volume for
all active parameters. In addition, each setup parameter menu (except ECG and
TEMP) has an adjust limits option that lets you set the alarm limits for that
parameter. The alarm limit values and alarm volume can be left at the default
settings or be adjusted manually. The alarm limit values can be adjusted
automatically around the patient's current condition.
NOTE: The default settings are for convenience only and are not intended for
all clinical situations. Users should establish appropriate alarm limits.
WARNINGS
An Asystole on power up does not cause an alarm.
Filter of artifact RESP signals can cause a delay in alarms.
Buffer of SpO
saturation and pulse rate values from SpO

cause a day in alarms.
The operator should check that the current default settings of
alarms is appropriate prior to use on each patient.
A potential hazard can exist if different default alarm settings
are used for the same or similar equipment in any single area,
e.g., an intensive care unit or cardiac operating theater.
