CYLINDER HEAD AND CYLINDER
3. Eliminate:
S Carbon deposits
CAUTION:
Do not use a sharp instrument. Avoid dam-
aging or scratching the surface.
4. Eliminate:
S Carbon deposits
5. Inspect:
S Piston crown
6. Eliminate:
S Score marks and lacquer deposits
NOTE:
Sand in a crisscross pattern. Do not sand ex-
cessively.
7. Measure:
S Piston-to-cylinder clearance
Measurement steps:
1st step:
S Measure the cylinder bore (C) with a cylinder
NOTE:
Measure the cylinder bore (C) parallel to and at
right angles to the crankshaft. Then find the av-
erage of the measurements.

Use the rounded scraper 1 .
(from the piston crown and ring grooves)
Burrs/nicks/damage ! Replace.
(from the piston wall)
Use 600 X 800 grit wet sandpaper.
